DELOS TAROT

Wondrous delight! I was scouting through Tumblr and I found the Delos Tarot. I learned about it at a time when I should not be splurging in luxuries, certainly not in cards, but I got them anyway. The cards felt like a fresh look into the RWS system, which is the one I use and love so dearly. The system makes sense to me, and by now all the cards I own are fresh for me anymore. I’ve been reading with most of these for years now. Even the Vertigo Tarot is falling stale. I need something new!

The cards shuffle like butter; the card stock is soft and matte. The colors come out very bright. Once they are broken into, they will fan out smoothly. They feel very sturdy. Card size is just under standard, which makes them comfortable for my hands. I am very used to standard size cards.

The world of Delos Tarot reads a lot like a fairytale or an animated storybook. The characters are sweet, the dark cards are cute and the whole deck has a feeling of positivity that I enjoy. It feels good when the message that you give clients comes sprinkled with some joyous energy, because then it is easy to deliver hope. It is much easier to find solutions or lighthearted qualities to comfort individuals. Granted, this is a deck to use for people who resonate with optimistic qualities and outlooks of life. In the end, it doesn’t matter if you read with a Hello Kitty Tarot or a Bohemian Gothic Tarot as long as the cards speak to you, and you can answer the question in a way that makes sense to your client. A cute deck is sure to make you smile like it did to me. I really like that about it.

I’m glad I purchased it because it is high quality and it speaks to me.

INTERVIEW WITH THE DELOS TAROT:
♡ What is your most important characteristic:

Page of Wands. My spirit is young, childlike and pull of energy. There is lots of passion expressed in these illustrations, and you will find they breathe life into your readings. You can personally connect with what the cards are showing.

♡ What are your strengths as a tarot deck?
Ten of Wands. This finely dressed person comes home at the end of the day, arms full of bounty collected throughout the day. An honest day’s wages won, and possibly the exhaustion to go with it. Know when it is time to pull back and rest; don’t burn yourself out.

♡ What are your limits?
The Lovers. Some visions stretch as far as your relations with people go. If there is nothing there, you will not find it. Don’t expect to go and find connections where there really are none. If you are clear about this, the rest will come pretty easily.

♡ What are you here to teach me?
Three of Wands. Be patient. Results take time to come in and we can’t always jump to conclusions. Know what you’ve got; don’t let yourself be carried away by your own day dreams if the time has not yet come to take care of the situation.

♡ How can I best learn to collaborate with you?
Nine of Cups. Accept the gift you are given with gratitude. Each treasure you add to your collection has layers of wealth to share. You have enough wealth, so honor it and enjoy it. You have, after all, worked for it.

♡ What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
King of Wands. Reassurance comes from passion and from motivation. Proceed with confidence that where your intuition falls, you are receiving the right answer. Enjoy the process, you’ve worked very hard to get where you want to go.

♡ Which card do you want to show off?
Eight of Wands. Messages come and go fast, like shooting stars. Be aware and in the moment so that you do not miss any of the messages I will be telling you. I will tell you everything at once, and in the dynamic of the moment, you should be able to pick up on it as you go. Be perceptive.

♡ How do you see me?
Chariot. I am a force that is pulled by two others, positive and negative. It is in keeping a balance of both that I can benefit from the situation and keep moving forward. It takes great power to keep both forces working together to move forward.

♡ How do you see yourself?
Sun. Pride of a job well done, happiness to serve those that need more light in their lives. This tarot deck is a positive influence on people, and will strive to bring out the positive qualities even in situations that may seem as if they have no light promised. There is always a possible solution to be found, and this deck aims to find it for you.

Comes with an additional art card that can be used as a bookmark for your tarot diary or as a carte blanche. It portrays a boy and a girl standing side by side.

MYSTIFYING ORACLE PLAYING CARDS BY CHRIS OVDIYENKO

MYSTIFYING PLAYING CARDS BY CHRIS OVDIYENKO:
I haven’t been compelled to write card reviews lately because I am bored with reviewing. I feel like the decks coming out resonate with other people. I haven’t been inspired to make a purchase in a while. This deck of cards definitely deserved a space in my collection, and I've been resonating with it like crazy. So much in fact that I purchased two copies. You never know when you need a backup!

I first heard about it during the Kickstarter campaign. He was offering a little Ouija board in the limited edition and yes/no coins that looked amazing! I remember that it was late in 2013, I found out about it during work and decided to make my contribution for two decks. I figured I'd find use for them both, or use one for both playing cards and for divination. I could collect the spare or keep it as backup, as mentioned before. This is a common trait in collectors such as myself; we find a deck that we consider to be a jewel. We think ahead into the future, telling ourselves that it could be scarce in the moment that we need it. Something like that. I feel so safe being in possession of two copies.

When I first held the box in my hands, I was very impressed. No matter where you look at it from, the tiny details on it are delightful. Let’s get started with the feel of the paper… it feels grainy and sturdy. It’s a matte finish with a copper colored foil overlay. The colors are black, ash gray and copper. The top says GOODBYE. The front has all of the suits, a winged skeleton between the sun and the moon. On the bottom, two hands come out of the clouds with an eye on each. The whole composition is framed elegantly, and textured as well. On the sides, you have the name of the deck. On the back of the box, the tuck die shows the skeleton. There is a Ouija board composite that is also on the back of the cards. On the bottom of the box, it lists the distributor as Dead on Paper and gives you the address. With pride it tells you this is an American product.

When you pop open the box, you get a breathtaking surprise. Contained on the inside is a foil damask pattern. It feels like a vampire’s boudoir in there! So beautiful. I gasped when I first noticed it. No details went without being thought about. The designer ensured the quality of this product, and I am truly glad to have two sets. Mine came with a free print that has been made, signed and numbered by Chris himself. I got 1158 / 1172. Whew! I can’t believe he went through the arduous task of making so many of these. When I think about the time it must have taken and the effort, it makes me even prouder to own the product. One of the last in the batch, too. I consider myself way lucky.

You take out the cards and are presented with excellent quality. You get two extra jokers, a gaff card and a yes or no card. Convenient! He considered that this would in fact be used for divination or entertainment… and he was right. I intended to purchase this deck to read along with the Playing Card Oracles method. [Since it requires memorization of the suit placement on each of the cards, I will use it as a more advanced level of cartomancy. I am still getting comfortable with it. I digress, though, that is a post for another day!]

The cards are stunning. I noticed the damask that is on the tuck part of the box as a texture on the fact of the cards. This really brought the project together for me!

The court cards are amazing! I recognize some of the people from the séance picture on the cards, which really resonates with me. That picture used to resonate a lot with me. I also like the others, they are quite imaginative. I’ve never seen cards this beautiful. The card stock is sturdy, luxurious and shuffles like butter. They’re so slippery!

My favorite suit is the suit of hearts. It looks amazing! Well, in truth, all the cards do.

I have a tip to know how the cards are upright: Dots at the top right corner are the strongest. Otherwise you won’t be able to tell if they are upright or not. Pay close attention to them when you first look at your cards so that you will know to identify the orientation of the card for your readings and general neatness. If you lose track, refer to the Ace of Spades and look into the dot clutter on the right. It is exactly the same on all the card backs

INTERVIEW WITH THE ORACLE:

What is your most important characteristic?
4 The West Wind. An atmosphere of compassion and warmth is represented in the card. Gentle persuasion to lift the spirits, inviting us to put worry aside. There is harmony and understanding, opposing sides can find common ground and comfort.

What are your limits?
5
Fata Morgana. Coming from the Arthurian Tales, meaning the spell of Morgana. Over the course of time, many illusions will be cast upon our hearts. They are only shadow images, reflections lacking depth. It’s easy for you to be led astray. Can you still find your center? This deck will help you do just that. Beautiful!

What are you here to teach me?
Jack
Dango. Constantly walking the line between fantasy and reality, between the possible and the impossible. Perform the balancing act going on faith, or working under intense pressure. Try and catch hold of it, and it will disappear out of sight, such as inspiration often foes.

How can I best learn to collaborate with you?
3 The Necklace. Objects of value will be strung together, connected. Suggesting alignment of energies that creates something new, vibrant and transformational. This is a spiritual calling.

What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
7
Sword of Enchantment. The presence of something special. Unexplainable events come into being. Opportunities magically present themselves. The right person coincidentally happens to be at the right place, right time. Directing spiritual traffic even without conscious intention.

Which card of you want to show off?
King
Mardoc. The conqueror without mercy or compassion. This is a king whose castle has no walls, whose kingdom is limited only by the length and breadth of the Earth itself. His home is where he makes it, where his conquest demands.

Advice?
9 The Throne of Spiders.
Have situations gone out of hand? Earthly values, concerns, addictions have become all consuming. Matter is winning the battle over spirit. We are not victims. We are creatures of choice, though sometimes the choices are very difficult. When carrying our burdens involves the ultimate price, it is often better to cut the load than be buried by it. Don't let anybody drain you and don't overwork yourself. Let go if you have to.

How do you see me?
Ace
Ignita. WOW! This is a card I ran into in the wild last March. A strong sense of self and a person’s own individuality. Spiritual values and transformation. A new project manifesting itself. It is the most pure form of the element of fire, which can be inspiration or motivation to do something. It can also be passion.

How do you see yourself?
2
The Enemies. Like rock against rock, sword against sword, this card represents the ultimate clash: two energies equally pitted in strength and determination. Resolution is a final concept for this card. Often there is a perception that one side or the other must win, must conquer the other. Cooperation and understanding is the lesson of this card.

Since I am not yet a buff in playing card divination, I have paraphrased these meanings off of Ana Cortez’s Playing Card Oracles: Source Book for Divination. I started to learn to use it last year, and this deck serves as motivation to keep the study going. This is the start of a beautiful friendship, the mystifying playing cards and I! You'll love this system to compliment the Mystifying Oracle Playing Cards.

GETTING CREATIVE WITH THE DECK:
It inspires me to host a cartomancy party for my own birthday, and to treat guests to a show tied in with actual readings. It would be really cool to play out a fantasy for them. If a party fails, it would be so cool to do a similar style of photoshoot with the deck for my personal portfolio as a cartomantic fortune teller.

I think about this in a steampunk saloon or parlor somewhere. Including myself in the fantasy, I see myself in a corset and bustle skirt matching the colors of the cards. The warm grays, reds and black. I see shiny embroidery of the damask on the corset. My hands have lace glovelets, my pale hands are contrasted by the metallic dark red on my nails. I will sit back with my deck and shuffle quietly the fates of my sitters. The querent asks me something, only to be dealt a hand of cards that will whisper to them of their fate.

Oh yeah! Are your cards making you day dream lately? I hope you enjoyed this review. Please support Chris Ovdiyenko’s future endeavors. His talent deserves reward and praise! Would you like to purchase your own copy?

DAS BUNKER PRESENTS COMBICHRIST / SUICIDE COMMANDO / AESTHETIC PERFECTION / YOUTH CODE AT CLUB AVALON

I wanted to share with you an amazing experience that I had last weekend. Wow, what a crazy weekend it was! It was a long time coming; the first time I heard about this concert was back in October, around the last few times I hung out with Hugo. We had a lot of anticipation time to per pare for the spectacle.

On Saturday, I set out with Justin and Crystal to a private VIP party to meet Combichrist, Aesthetic Perfection and Youth Code. It was held at Complex, LA. You'd never guess, but we were the only ones on the dance floor. After a week of fantasizing about the dance floor, nobody cared if anybody else was watching. Shortly afterwards, we were joined by a few people that felt like getting their dance on. It was beautiful; for a little while we all swayed and weaved through that dance floor.

We took a break to go to the patio, where we met Mitchell. He does merch work for Combichrist, and he was very kind. The four of us sat together in polite conversation, trading stories and impressions. He took me to meet Andy, the Combichrist lead singer. We got our photo taken and I was telling him my story with the band, then he promptly embraced his girlfriend in a kiss and forgot about the conversation. I laughed as I walked away, rolling my eyes but understanding all too well, but disappointed in how inattentive he was to me. He really didn't care that a fan was there to see him and meet him. If he got the impression I was looking for romance, he's quite wrong.

THE CONCERT:
From the moment I stepped into the venue, I was greeted by friendly staff. The place looks like a Baroque / Victorian night time playground, it is so tastefully decorated. I would definitely rate Club Avalon as an upscale nightclub, and one I'd love to come back to in order to see my favorite bands play. Wow... I just can't transmit through words how amazing it was to be standing amongst a thousand goths with some very awesome bands playing. I have never seen so many gothic music enthusiasts together in the same place, and they all looked so beautiful. Corsets, kanekalon dread hair, extravagant make-up and platform boots with many, many buckets. It felt like home to me, and that's exactly the kind of feeling I have been looking for in nightlife. I loved it!

Aesthetic Perfection did great. I spent most of their show socializing with familiar faces and looking for a decent place to stand, though.

Suicide Commando was killing it. Since the moment he came out, you could feel the excitement in the crowd. I started out watching them from a teal wristband balcony, then moved to the main area to get a closer look. Everyone was dancing and feeling it, and Johan was living up to the expectations I had for Suicide Commando. In truth, this is the band that I came to see, and I was very glad to see them live. They started off with Bind, Torture and Kill. The energy that he had going on the stage was passed onto the crowd, who loved him for it. Unfortunately, after three songs it seems that Johan suffered lesions to his leg and had to be removed from the stage. About half an hour later, the staff comes back out to tell us he's on his way to the hospital, and may need surgery for his leg. It crushed us all. Me especially, after having been looking forward to see Johan perform live. Suicide Commando's work :Wumpscut:, Velvet Acid Christ, Combichrist, VNV Nation, and Covenant are responsible for my love of Industrial music and gothic nightlife. In one night, I got to see two bands from this list perform. Magic!!

As a result, Combichrist played an extended set. The concert hall suddenly got really rugged. Two mosh pits opened up, and fists were pumping in the air. There was so much rage in the air, I was glad to be in a discrete niche behind the sound check guys. They there centric and had a great view, without the risk of being pelted by the slew of fists in the crowd. Super good spot!

After having met Andy the night before, I wasn't very enthused with the impression that they made. Mitchell was very friendly, though, and invited me to chat with him at the Combichrist merchandising booth. I said I'd see him at the VIP party, but it seems he couldn't get out of work in time to chat. Come the VIP meet and greet I was too tired, and not really into meeting any of the bands. There was not enough energy to take another go at making conversation with Andy, and Johan was not there because he was probably off somewhere getting his leg treated. I did, however, run into John Giovanazzi a.k.a. Rev John, the visionary that made this activity possible. He's very smart and well-educated. You can easily strike up a conversation with him, which is very rare so far for the people I have met in this scene. However, those that are worth talking to make it a tolerable task. I've met some wonderful individuals here in California.

Activities like these leave an impression in you. It would be grand to have them on a more regular basis, but it seems that having enough time to prepare for an event builds up enough anticipation to get a decent attendance list. It was marvelous to see so many people at a venue to enjoy this type of music. One of the many reasons why coming to live in California is a wise decision. Are you sold yet? ; )

Overall, great success! I had a splendid night out. I have many news to share with you, some of which will be shocking for long-time readers and friends. I hope to be able to get them out to you soon; sometimes I don't get to post around here as much as I would like to. There is so, so much to share with you...

Wishing you a lovely weekend!

DREAM INTERPRETATION

This year seems to be going rough for everyone that I know. I feel as if we can’t blame Mercury Rx or Mars Rx — although, for us Libras, this Mars Rx in Libra is being a real bother… — because there is a percentage of these faults that are our own. Bodies give out, circumstances don’t cooperate, and people fall out of love with one another. It happens. It’s really not worth preoccupying everybody else with the suspicion that something is up, because there are people who are going through real problems and real worries. Somewhere out there, there is a lost airplane from Malaysia with people that really need to get back to their lives, jobs and families. Chile and California are shaking continuously, and animals are fleeing Yellowstone Park as a warning that the volcano might be going off. Those are the real problems we should be worried about. I digress...

Lately I have been evading bullets with people close to me. I am not a yes person by any means, and find myself growing nervous when my plans don’t turn out as planned. I am so careful with my plans that I give myself enough leeway for spontaneity. Let’s face it, life happens all the time. Giving yourself enough wiggle room at least gives you a chance to react when your plans aren’t going as planned. However, there is a chance that no matter how well you plan ahead of time, things don’t work out the way that you planned. I promised C that I’d look after her cat. She is dating J, my room mate, and is the sweetest. We have been hanging out lately and enjoying one another’s company. J is never home, doesn’t lift a finger to clean and will not be moved to look after the cat after a long day at work. That’s the truth. N tells me that she is going out of town and is looking for someone to take care of her dog, so I volunteer. N is my best friend from college and a person that I would do anything for. I check to make sure schedules don’t conflict before making the commitment. N will be gone from Friday to Wednesday, and C from Friday to Monday. This means I can do it! And I even have an extra day for cleaning. Perfect…

Not perfect. When I get to N’s house, she springs a surprise trip back home on me. Meaning she won’t be back until Monday. I went to bed and thought about it, then consulted C about my situation and made the terms very clear. Wednesday night rolls around and I have no confirmation from N or C, I feel pressure of letting them down, and I tell myself I can’t leave this dog by himself if someone isn’t coming to pick him up.

In light of these events, I turned off the working station and went to take a shower. During the shower, this blog post started writing itself in my mind and I decided to put away my thoughts and to enjoy the shower instead. When I was done, I crawled into bed and turned on my Macbook Pro. The mental meltdown happened at 10P.M., and it is 11P.M. by the time I have gone through the whole issue. Writing this entry has given me the chance to step back and take it all in at once.

That’s life.

Before long, I am going to turn the computer off and bury myself under the sheets. I will seek solace in my pillow and hope that by tomorrow, the way forward will be clear. I will pull some tarot cards and make note of what I get, then we will go back and assess it before this post goes live. To be honest, I am debating whether or not to post it. I don’t like to make my personal business public, especially with so many friends involved. The fact that their identities are concealed reassures me, although anyone who knows me well enough will probably know who I am talking about. Hell, if the friends mentioned read my blog, they will easily be able to identify their roles in the story.

THE DREAM:
My dreams have been telling me things lately, or rather, warning me of very important events. I am starting to gain perspective on a dream I woke up really dazed from this [Wednesday] morning. In the dream, I found myself walking outside my neighborhood in Puerto Rico. It was storming heavily, with pelting rain and high winds. It was night time and dark out, none of the lamp posts were lit. Every now and then lightning would strike, and the scene would be horrifying. The plants were pale and stretched out menacingly. They looked like tentacles, and swayed in the wind as if they had a mind of their own. Instead of soil, there were bugs by the hundreds. Roaches, worms, beetles, large ants. My eyes widened every time the lightning lit up the scene, it was a real nightmare. I didn’t run away in fear, though, I stood my ground for some reason. When the scene was dark, the plants were back to normal. They were as I remembered them. Every time that lightning flashed, though, I was forced to see something really ugly.

BREAKING DOWN THE SYMBOLS:
Storm: Overwhelming struggle, shock, loss or catastrophe in waking life. Unexpressed fears or emotions; anger, rage, turmoil, etc. It may also mean rising spirituality, or rapid changes. I resonate with the meaning of the symbol in the sense that I am a bit afraid to face my friends with the truth of the situation because I am trying to protect them. I also feel the circumstances are out of my control and hostile.

Lightning: Sudden awareness or light being shed in the darkness. The ugly truth reveals itself. Shocking events are implied. Many forces governing your life may be beyond your control and even destructive.

Lawn: To see a green lawn represents hope. You are in control and making steady and smooth progress. If the lawn is overgrown or full of weeds, then it means that you are not taking good care of yourself. Yeah, no kidding. It can’t be good care of yourself if you’re off worrying about how somebody else is feeling about something you did or did not do.

Bugs: Symbolic of anxiety or fears. What is literally bugging you?

Tentacles: Unknown danger lurking from the depths of your subconscious. Your subconscious is trying to pull you in so you can address the issues that you have been refusing to confront or acknowledge. Alternatively, the dream refers to a very clingy relationship.

Once more, proof of how dreams can tell us exactly what it is that we need to pay attention to, even if we don’t realize it immediately when we have that dream. I am very impressed with the foreboding quality of the warning that the dream delivers, and wish that I had listened before it got to this point.

Friends are wonderful, but we should never compromise ourselves if we can help it. No one likes to end up looking bad for not upholding a prior commitment.

RESOLUTION:

Oh, and by the way, this happened last week. The matter has already been solved. Come the next day, N wrote me back saying it was okay for me to stay at her house until she got back on Monday. C left the cat with J, who took good care of it.

Sometimes, the best way to deal with something is not to overload yourself with it. We have so much going on already, it’s a shame to dampen a good day with problems.

It’s hard when you want to but can’t please everyone. The most important part is to be true to yourself.

SACRED SYMBOLS FOR DIVINATION & MEDITATION

MARCELLA'S WONDROUS ORACLE:
When laid out on a table, this deck is very impressive. The backs are red with an Eye of Horus on it. On the other side, you have symbols painted by Marcella Kroll juxtaposed with typography to title each card.

I never use the little white booklet, but this deck changed that dynamic for me. I am not familiar with what all of the symbols mean, which is a challenge and a reminder that intuition must be fueled with sourced information. It helps you so much, and gives you just enough leeway to make some other connections by yourself. Once you get the gist of what each card is meant to signify, you can begin the adaptation of your own personal symbols. Keep an open mind and the messages will flow!

The deck itself is easy to shuffle because the card stock is thin but sturdy. The size is a bit bigger than standard tarot cards, but not enough to fully overpower the hand. I find it just right.

SACRED SYMBOLS FOR DIVINATION & MEDITATION:

I like that the symbols are placed in an environment that is crafted out of color. A deck purposely made for meditation is sure to grab my attention.

I have seen this deck used in a string of three that is later built upon other layers, forming a sentence. The system is similar to that of the Lenormand for those who are familiar, but utilizes different symbols. The symbols are universal but by no means overt. It takes a while with the booklet to really bond with the cards.

This deck is a library; you shuffle it around and rearrange the elements to get a message that will be riveting as well as inspiring. I find in this deck a great tool for self-empowerment and a wonderful companion on your life journey.

ORACLE INTERVIEW:

What is your most important characteristic?
Morning Star. The wise teacher. This is a really funny card choice because it is on Marcella’s business card. It represents the connection — or guidance in the path to connect to — your higher self. It is the maximum exponent of being on a journey, and finding the best to it.

There is certainly a silver lining to this card in the sense that no matter how dark a situation may seem, there will be something to guide us where we need to do. It is almost the feeling of divine protection and guidance through a symbol, which I find very helpful. It seems to be at the core of the deck.

What are your strengths as a tarot deck?
Spirits. Like spirits, these messages are drawn from a higher place. This is in fact not a tarot deck, but rather, an oracle. I feel that it is saying that it is meant for guidance, which resonates a lot with the first card chosen for this deck.

What are your limits?
Vesica Pisces. You have to access a greater wisdom; see sacredness in your visions. This is a time of great awakening. New psychic abilities are gifts coming to you now. The rings are linked, symbolizing a possible union of the self with the higher self. A time when connections are made and great understanding comes through intuition.

What are you here to teach me?
Safe Travel. It looks like I have found my compass for the California journey! Excellent time for a move, a trip, change of scenery; or even relocation. It seems that it’s a great start to a new adventure!

How can I best learn to collaborate with you?
Butterfly. By honoring the process of getting acquainted with the cards as well as the life journey. The butterfly goes through many stages before it becomes the beautiful creature it is. Honor your process, and allow your beauty to be seen by all. Wear more color to help announce the arrival of your exquisite transformation.

What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?
Focus. This deck will help you stay focused on your target, your goals and in the right direction. Time to be direct and very clear with your intentions. If you have been feeling scattered, now is the time to hone in your desires. Think about what you DO want, not what you don’t want. Watch your thoughts, because you are drawing into your life what you are focusing on.

Which card do you want to show off?
Lucky. Victory through teamwork and work in general. You’ve got the Midas touch! Everything you touch turns to gold at this time. Enjoy this winning streak you are on.

How do you see me?
Kirpan. Joined together for a cause, but taking on unnecessary weight from others. Cut the cords to unhealthy or toxic people, places, energy, habits, and things. This is a time to stand in your truth without cutting anyone down. Damn straight!

How do you see yourself?
Evil Eye. A charm of protection against the cords that people try to tie you up in. This deck was blessed at a special time, so while it is still charged with that energy, it will be an agent that dissipates dark energy. Jealous people nearby, but no need to worry. You are MORE than protected.

This deck is powerful in the sense that there is so much being said with so little. It is how we rearrange it that we will find differences. It is still brand new and will take some time for me to really ‘get it.’ I feel that it is a great working tool for those seeking self-empowerment and a guide out of difficult situations. It speaks with the truth.
